Morning worship is held every Sunday throughout the year. In the summer, the worship service is held in the Parish Hall instead of the Sanctuary. Sunday School classes are held during the school year only. Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided year-round.
Individual sound enhancement units are available in the Narthex by asking an usher for assistance. Large print copies of the morning worship service bulletin and hymnals are also available by asking an usher. Our hymnals are also available in Braille. The building is handicapped accessible providing a ramp, restroom facilities and an elevator.
We practice two sacraments, Holy Communion and Baptism. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month, and on Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion
Communion is open to everyone. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey you are welcome at Christ’s table. In keeping with our two traditions, we practice communion in a variety of ways. During the summer and on alternate months during the rest of the year, we use the method of intinction. Participants come forward to receive the elements, taking a bit of bread and dipping it in the cup before eating. In keeping with the Reformed tradition we also serve it some Sundays while people are seated in the pew and in keeping with the Methodist tradition sometimes participants come forward and kneel in the front pew where they are served the elements. Each communion Sunday it is made clear which method we are using.
The Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is a sacred event in the life of an individual. Our traditions baptize both children and adults. We recognize the baptism of any other denomination and do not require anyone to be baptized again. If you wish baptism for yourself or for your infant or child, you should call the pastor who will meet with you to discuss the service and its meaning before determining a date for the service.
Weddings
While marriage is not a sacrament in our two traditions, it is a celebration of a Holy Covenant made between two persons who wish their union begun and blessed in the presence of God. If you are considering being married in our beautiful sanctuary, you should make an appointment with the pastor. At least two meetings are required before the wedding. While other ministers may be invited to participate it is a requirement that our minister be present and take part in the service. There is a schedule of fees available in the church office.
