**Ash Wednesday service

Date: Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Time: 07:30 PM - 08:30 PM
Location: Sanctuary

Ash Wednesday begins the journey of Lent the time when Christians often adopt a deeper spiritual practice during the six weeks that lead up to Easter. Some will adopt a practice of scripture reading and prayer. Others will perhaps try fasting of some sort. Others may take on a special act of caring. Whatever we decide Ash Wednesday is the day when we acknowledge before God our need for change and the places in ourselves that need healing and forgivness.
This year there will be two opportunities for participating in brief service of confession and the imposition of ashes. Both services will be in the Centenary room.

1. The first service will be at 1 pm following a simple lunch in the sanctuary. Soup will be served and you are encouraged to bring a sandwich.

2. The second service will be at 7:30 pm. It will be preceeded by the February miniretreat. Starting at 6 pm with a simple bread and soup supper in silence, it will be a time of preparation for Lent and our concluding worship service.
